There is no time like summer time to get it all together. Days are longer, weather is warmer, everyone is going on vacation or taking days off. According to health coach and Fun. Feisty. Fabulous! health contributor, Kim Acedo, getting healthy comes down to four things: eating, moving, sleeping and how you feel. You start with the category you’re doing the best in and move on from there.

And, there is no time like summer to get it going. Let’s start with nutrition. Fruit and vegetables are ripe and at their tastiest. So grab a salad! And wash it down with some water. Nothing quenches your thirst quite like water, especially when it is hot outside. Plus, you can light up that grill. Grilling is a summer pastime that naturally removes a lot of fat from your food.

Maybe you want to start with exercise, or what we like to call movement. Take long walks, play with the kids/grandkids, dance! In the Carolinas shag dancing is a way to have fun and get your dance on. Even if you aren’t in my neck of the woods, there are fun things to do that get you moving and up the fun factor.

Sleeping gets a little easier if you are moving and eating healthier. Plus, even though it gets lighter in the morning, you probably have vacation time or at least a few days off to work on your zzz’s. There is something that is relaxing about the summer season; so, make the most of that relaxation by getting a little more shut-eye. Sleeping is the one thing people over look when getting healthy. Yet, getting enough rest makes exercise and eating right that much easier.

Finally, your mood can improve when you are addressing food, exercise or sleep. It can also improve when the sun is shining and you’re having a little fun. It’s summer time so take a moment to meditate, swing or sleep on a hammock, take a long drive (or walk). Have a weekend getaway. Summer is a time to sooth your soul.

Or as Ella Fitzgerald once said, “Summertime and the living is easy !” (even if the gas is more expensive).
